Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 19, 2026
Your privacy matters to us. This Policy explains what personal data TheEuropeanDream collects, how we use it, and what rights you have. We are committed to GDPR compliance and to handling your data with respect.
1. Who we are
TheEuropeanDream ("we", "us", "our") is an online platform providing city comparison, visa information, and relocation resources for individuals considering a move to Europe. We are registered and operated from Lisbon, Portugal. Our data controller contact is privacy@theeuropeandream.com.
2. What data we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
• Account data: email address and display name when you create an account.
• Preference data: lifestyle preferences, saved cities, and relocation timeline you set within the platform.
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, and session duration — collected via anonymised analytics.
• Device data: browser type, operating system, and IP address (not stored long-term).
We do not collect sensitive personal data such as national ID numbers, banking details, or health information.
3. How we use your data
We use your data to:
• Provide and personalise the Service (city matches, saved preferences, relocation progress).
• Improve the platform based on aggregate, anonymised usage patterns.
• Send transactional emails (e.g. password reset, account confirmation).
• Send optional product update emails — you can unsubscribe at any time.
We do not use your data for advertising profiling, and we do not sell your data to third parties.
4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal bases for processing personal data are:
• Contract performance: to provide the Services you signed up for.
• Legitimate interests: to improve the platform and prevent abuse.
• Consent: for optional marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time.
5. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g. for accounting purposes). Anonymised, aggregated usage data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked to any individual.
6. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We also use anonymised analytics cookies (via Vercel Analytics) to understand how the platform is used. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can adjust cookie preferences through your browser settings.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
• Access: request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Rectification: request correction of inaccurate data.
• Erasure: request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@theeuropeandream.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Data security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
• Encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest.
• Authentication handled by Supabase with bcrypt password hashing.
• Minimal access controls — only team members who need to see data to operate the service have access.
• Regular security reviews.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
9. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services which may process data on our behalf:
• Supabase (authentication and database — servers in EU region)
• Vercel (hosting and edge functions — GDPR-compliant)
• Mapbox (map rendering — no personal data shared)
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy and GDPR compliance measures.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will notify users via email where required.
